Actually, Hanoians can enjoy Pho at any time of day, from the early morning till midnight, because Pho can both considered to be light meal or main meal. How interesting!

To get the best flavor of pho, you can come to Pho Gia Truyen (49 Bat Dan), Pho Lam Nam Ngu (7 Nam Ngu) and Pho Thin (13 Lo Duc). These spots are not restaurants but you will have a chance to experience sidewalk seats which are placed in front of a giant, steaming pot of broth.

VIETNAMESE COFFEE

There are some well-known and unique types of coffee you can give a try such as iced milk coffee and egg coffee. Vietnamese often sip a cup of coffee after having their breakfast, which can turn you on for a long day awaiting ahead, before afternoon working hours, or even after dinner having an intimate coffee talk with soulmates. It is not exaggerating that Vietnam possesses a coffee culture.

You can try this drink near wherever you have your breakfast to taste the basic flavor; or if you are looking for the original taste, please come to Giang Cafe (39 Nguyen Huu Huan) which specializes in egg coffee.

The Cong Cafe chain is another incredible option if you are keen on a retro-communist chic atmosphere. These are great spots for coffee and popular among not only foreign tourists, but also students and locals.

BUN CHA (Grilled meat with noodle)

Bun cha is regarded as the most popular dish for Hanoian. This dish became immensely famous when previous US President, Mr. Barack Obama tried this in Hanoi when he came there. If you want to eat in the same room as he did, visit Bun Cha Huong Lien at 24 Le Van Huu and get the Obama Combo, which includes bun cha, a fried seafood roll and a bottle of Hanoi beer.

Besides, the best bun cha is served at 34 Hang Than, a small, very cheap eatery with plenty of flavors.

BUN DAU MAM TOM

Visitors can rent recycles from the local here, which is very cheap, and wander around the villages to see a difference of Vietnam with picturesque villages, get a glimpse of the Coc mountain lake and meet hospital people here. Coming here, visitors will have a chance to learn the tea processing and experience it with your own hands. To make a traditional tea spot, visitors will have to take several steps from picking up leaves, tea drying, and make final product, which makes visitors excited as soon as you are ready to roll up your sleeves and make your first attempt. Furthermore, through learning tea process, tourists can have a deeper insight into their lives and generally, Vietnam tea culture. It will be truly an unforgettable experience for you when coming to Vietnam.

5. Long Coc Tea Hill - Phu Tho

Long Coc, some 112 kilometers from Hanoi, comprising numerous smaller hills that are covered with tea farms. The area is therefore considered to be one of Vietnam’s most beautiful tea hills. Those who have been to Phu Tho’s midland area of Doan Hung, Thanh Ba Ha Hoa, Cam Khe, Phu Ninh, etc. would never forget their green tea hills which look like layers of glutinous rice trays, featuring impressive natural landscape. Midland girls are very skillful in picking tender tea, who always leave smiling happily and sing folksongs, which reflects the tranquil life of a rural area. On both sides of the curvy road in the middle of the mountainous area, tea plantations lead one all the way to the horizon and leave the road in shadows.

The hillocks at Long Coc are also known as ‘tea islands,” which, because of their separated locations, form breathtaking scenery. The ‘tea islands’ are usually compared to islands on Ha Long Bay, the most famous natural wonder of Vietnam. During weekends, many youngsters choose Long Coc as their get-together spot to take romantic photos with partners and friends, as well as shoot their pre-wedding photo albums. On top of being a photograph-taking hotspot, Long Coc also emerges as a place for relaxation, where people can escape the hustle of the city life to enjoy the peacefulness on the hills.

The mountains in Phu Tho are also a home to Muong ethnic minority group, whose different culture and customs attract the interest of many tourists. Visitors to Phu Tho can uncover Long Coc tea farm hills and the local Xuan Son National Park, as well as getting to know the life and culture of the Muong people through a homestay service. The homestay service includes a special activity, which is both visitors and native Muong performers introducing their culture through various performances by a camping fire at night.

Top 5 most beautiful tourist destinations in Hue

Hue’s location at Vietnam’s geographical heart may have ordained its particular role in the most two turbulent centuries of the country’s history. Even before it became the Nguyen Dynasty capital of Vietnam in 1802, Hue was the base for the Nguyen family who controlled the south region of the country. Most well-known for its historic values; Hue had been recognized as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Let’s find out top 5 best gorgeous destinations in Hue with Whatsup Vietnam.

1. Hue Imperial Citadel

The citadel was oriented to face the Huong River (Perfume River) to the southeast. Rather than concentric rings, centered on the Emperor's palace, the imperial residence itself is offset toward the southeast side of the citadel, nearer the river. A second set of tall walls and a second moat was constructed around this Imperial City, within which many edifices were added in a series of gated courtyards, gardens, pavilions and palaces.

The Hue Citadel was the most unexpected protective construction built in modern times. It took thousands of workers and the huge undertaking commenced in 1803, during Gia Long's reign, and was completed in 1832 by his successor King Minh Mang. The design of the facade followed the natural terrain of the Huong River’s north bank. Each wall of the Citadel consists of entry gates with watching towers, bastions with canons and ammunition depots. The Citadel was defended by a moat system surrounding the wall and the man-made canals and rivers not only provided water defenses but also water transportation.

2. Thien Mu Pagoda

Thien Mu Pagoda or Linh Mu pagoda is among the oldest places of worship in Hue and is a good example of religious architecture. Furthermore, visiting the Pagoda on a Hue City Tour which includes a boat cruise along the beautiful river named Perfume. The pagoda was established in 1601, and then Lord Nguyen Phuc Tan had it renovated in 1665. In 1710 Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu had a great bell cast (2.5 meters high, weighed 3.285 kg) and a stele (2.58 meters high) erected on the back of a marble tortoise in 1715. In the Nguyen Dynasty, Kings such as Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Thanh Thai all had the pagoda restored.

Notably, Thien Mu Pagoda does not own many Buddha statues as other pagodas in Hue. Generally, the campus of the pagoda looks like a palace of kings, mandarins in ancient Hue. Immersing their souls in pagoda sightseeing, tourists seem to go into the pure and poetic space, which is far different from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Walking through each entrance in the pagoda, tourists will actually feel their own self, spiritual retreat, and be willing to leave behind all of sorrow and anxiety.

3. Minh Mang Tomb

Also known as "Hieu Mausoleum", Minh Mang's tomb is one of the most mystical tombs of Nguyen Dynasty, which is a complex system of 40 gorgeous constructions, including temple, pavilion, palace, etc. Combined between landscape and architecture buildings, the tomb can be considered as a microcosm of Hue Citadel, which is a perfect combination of manmade and natural beauty of Hue.

Minh Mang’s tomb draws a considerable number of both domestic and international visitors annually. The site was always intended to double as a tomb complex and national park, with landscaped gardens, terraces, lakes, and bridges that surround and connect the buildings. The plan for the burial site was dictated by geomancy, a form of divination using natural elements, as it was thought that the placement of the emperor’s grave could affect the fate of the entire dynasty. The tomb also functioned as thing to do in Hue vietnam a link between this life and the next, and thus Minh Mang’s burial site was arranged in the shape of a womb, representing Mother Earth and rebirth in heaven. This colorful landscape is an essential national monument, continuing to educate visitors about the country’s history and culture.

4. Bach Ma National Park

Bach Ma National Park stands at 1450 meters above sea level, hosting majestic waterfalls, hiking trails, and dilapidated French villas. Bạch Ma National Park is nestled in the Truong Son (Annamite) Mountains and is one of the wettest places in Vietnam. Its mountains are composed mainly of granite, and the topography of the park is generally very steep.|

Bạch Ma's position, at the biogeographical border between northern and southern Vietnam, combined with its variety of habitats, ranging from the coast to high mountains, means the park is rich in biodiversity. It is located in an area that is considered a center of plant diversity in Vietnam. The main vegetation type is moist evergreen and montane forest, as well as areas of scrub and grassland where human disturbance has been high.

Encompassing more than 154 square miles (400 square kilometers) of an old French hill station, Bach Ma National Park protects one of the most visually sensational natural areas of Central Vietnam. More than 1,400 species of plants grow in the park — a fifth of the total flora in the country — alongside 132 species of mammals and 358 species of birds. Among the rarer residents, many of them nocturnal, are the douc langur, leopard, stump-tailed macaques and Asiatic black bear.

5. The Perfume River

Locally known as Huong (Perfume) River, it was named after wilted flowers from upriver orchards are carried through its flow during autumnal months, resulting in a strong floral scent. The Perfume River has two sources; both begin in the Truong Son mountain range and meet at Bang Lang Fork. The Ta Trạch (left tributary) originates in the Truong Dong mountains and flows northwest towards the fork. The river then flows in south-north direction past the temples of Hon Chen and NgỠc Tren, then flows north-west, meandering through the Nguyet Bieu and Luong Quan plains. Besides, it flows to the northeast to Hue and passes the resting place of the Nguyen emperors.

The river is fenced by historic monuments of the city and the cool breeze and flowing water help in creating an enchanting aura. One of the alluring places to visit in Hue, people prefer spending time on the banks watching boats sailing on the water. Here, you can also see joggers running by the banks in the morning, or the sight of small shops and restaurants open up in the evenings. Families come here to spend treasure time while enjoying some musicians playing lovely and traditional music.

Top 5 things that make foreign tourists fall in love with Hanoi

It was 5 years ago when I decided to quit my job to let my hair down and became a travel blogger to fulfill my passion of visiting all the countries in the world. I chose Hanoi as my first destination because my best friend, who had travelled to Hanoi for few months, told me that Hanoi Vietnam travel contains a massive number of amazing things I would have never seen before. And It didn’t let me down at all. Hanoi possesses patterns that are spectacular enough to make the capital city of Vietnam stand out from any trip to hanoi other cities. From where I stand, I will show you things that foreigners love most when they come to Hanoi.

1.Crossing the road

Crossing Hanoi's crowded roads is a entirely new and terrifing experience for foreigners. Hanoi must be one of the cities with the most motorbike users in the world. Every street you go, the thousands of motorbikes follow. However, I never saw any traffic accidents when crossing the roads. There are some advices I consolidated when I took my Hanoi trip.

Please do not just waiting for about more than 02 walking signals before stepping your foot to cross the road as you may be impatient waiting for few signals more and still could not go over as the local people still keep going even there is walking signal. Remember to observe the coming vehicles to estimate their movements before you go. Once you go, keep going straight and go steadily across the street. The biker/car drivers would automatically avoid going into you. Turning back is even more dangerous when you move on the lane for it causes difficulty for the drivers to understand your direction and intention.

2. Exploring Old quarters.

Hanoi Old Quarter is located on the northeast of Hanoi, belonged to Hoan Kiem district. The location of the old town was purposely in between Thang Long imperial citadel and the red river which is considered the advantageous area for trading development. The Old Quarter of Hanoi is a labyrinth and maze of streets that never makes sense if you’re not the local or you haven’t lived long enough in this city. The exceptional characteristic to make this area so special is that the name of each street is attached to a product/service, which was originally sold on that street. Hang Bac Stree, for example, specialises in silver, with bac meaning silver. We are unsure what the word for cheap crap is, but there is a street for that as well.

Besides, it also contains a variety of stunning attractions and cultural relics. Walking around Hoan Kiem Lake in the morning to see a different quiet Hanoi before it gets started on bustling daily lifestyle. Visiting the spiritual temples and pagodas, which were built hundred or thousand years ago to find out ancient beauty still pristinely reserved until now.

3. French culture

French architecture contributes to making Hanoi more exceptional compared to other cities in Asia. The collision of two distinguish cultures gave birth to the construction industry in Vietnam and left unique architectural works, a common heritage for both countries. The combination of French architecture and indigenous architecture created Indochina architectural line unique and unlike anywhere else in the world.

The typical French architectural work mentioned first is Long Bien bridge across the Red River, formerly named under Indochina Paul Doumer (Pont Paul-Doumer) and constructed in 1903. This bridge is considered to be one of the cultural icons of the capital Hanoi.

Besides, under the influence of French culture, the genre of fiction and drama was born. Other art institutions such as Hanoi Opera House or Cinema Palace Cinema (now Cong Nhan Theater) still continue to exist today.

4. Do a street food tour

Speaking of Hanoi without mentioning street food here is a big omission. For such a long time, street food has become a cultural beauty of Hanoi. You can dig in a wide range of dishes on every corner on your Hanoi street food tour, which will give you the chance to learn more about the local food and will explain how to pick a good place.

Coming to these street eateries, customers often have to strain their eyes to find places, wait for "long necks" or suffer from bending their knees to eat. Fortunately, however, street food still draws millions of foreigner tourist to Hanoi every year because of its unique style that only Hanoi has. Moreover, the price for each meal is extremely reasonable and much cheaper than other tourist destinations with the most traditional dishes of Vietnam such as Pho, Rolled Cake, Sticky Rice, etc.

5. Bia hơi (Draft beer)

Bia hơi is a specialty of Hanoi that foreigner tourist must try so that you could become an amazing Hanoi explorer to tell your friends and family. A range of vendors appear on the pavements of streets inside Hanoi Old Quarter and you may see a fair number of foreigners happily enjoying draft beer with their friends or even the strange native speaker. If you want to make some new foreign friends, this recommended place is the conjunction between Ta Hien Street and Luong Ngoc Quyen Street where there are always several foreigners drinking on the pavements.

The above is what foreigners will enjoy when visiting Hanoi from my personal point of view. Therefore, don't hesitate any longer and pick up a Hanoi tour to experience right away!
